Some may wonder about the timing or our stewardship season. Is this really the best time to be discussing money and the stewardship of our resources? i believe it is. We are all thinking and talking about financial issues because of what is happening in the world, and i believe it is important to reflect on what God has to say about money and how we leverage our resources for the sake of His Kingdom.
I know it may be a difficult time to be thinking about giving to the ministry and mission of La Jolla Presbyterian Church, let alone growing in our giving. However, I am also convinced that we have been blessed in so many ways that we need to prayerfully discern how we can become more faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us. My prayer is that you will consider how you can grow in your "stewardship" in 2009.
Over the years, LJPC has used different models of receiving "estimate of giving" or "pledge" cards. This year we will follow the format we used last year. We will not be mailing estimate of giving cards the week before Commitment Sunday. Instead we will have the cards available on Commitment Sunday, which this year is November 16. Our hope is that you will be able to join us on that Sunday as we offer our "commitments" to God in worship. If you are not there, you will receive an estimate of giving card in the mail.
God is at work in and through LJPC, I hear people talking about i, and I see people's lives being transformed. Each of us plays a role in helping LJPC become the church God desires us to be. As we journey together, let us also join together in praying that we will utilize our resources in ways that honor God and His Kingdom.
